Giving To Mission

You might not realize it, but throughout the scriptures, the people of God are invited to a mission beyond themselves and are blessed so that they can be a blessing to others. We exist to overflow God’s blessings to our community, and a primary way we get to do this is through participating in financial generosity together.

Here at Midtown Vineyard, we rely on your generosity as we partner together to share the Gospel of Jesus, to see people transformed by God’s work in their lives, and care for the community around us.

We are aware of the Old Testament command to give a tithe (10%) and we believe that giving gets more exciting and more sacrificial as we move into the New Testament, therefore the tithe can be a helpful guide for us.  As New Testament people invite everyone to practice the 4 “P’s” of giving.

  • We give as a “Priority”. This means we give first. It is the very first thing that we do with money.

  • We give a “Percentage“. This helps us know what to give. We like the question, “what do I truly want to give?” Then we give it, joyously and sacrificially.

  • We give “Progressively”. Along the way we want to grow in our giving and our trust in God’s provision. Every year we seek to become more generous to the local church and at large. A possible progression of giving to the local church as a follower of Jesus:

    Give Once    →    Give Consistently    →    Give Generously (moving toward 10%)    →    Give Radically (move beyond 10%)

  • We give when “Prompted”. When our heart is stirred by a need or project, we give.
